Feiyue sneakers are made for the summer

Originally favoured by Chinese martial artists, Feiyue’s line of no-nonsense, athletic sneakers gained a cult following after Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp came out as fans of the brand.

For its Summer 2012 collection, however, the French-owned shoe label has gone for a softer, more laid-back feel with its new vintage-style shoes for women.

Inspired by a carefree Californian summer, Feiyue’s latest collection features more than 100 styles, including 80 unisex models and the shoes that made its name, the high-cut Delta Mid sneakers ($105).

However, two new designs for women are standouts from the sporty herd of Feiyue sneakers: the delicate Debbie and Saddie shoes, which blend right into any American road-trip landscape.

The Debbie ($69) is a super-lightweight derby shoe with leather details and a mesh base to keep cool in the heat, while the Saddie ($135) is a preppy, 50s-style lace-up that looks effortlessly vintage. Both styles are available in a range of colours and are a great way to lend a breezy retro finish to any summer outfit.

Largest Coach store in Southeast Asia to open

Coach may have been around for a while now, but it is certainly not slowing down anytime soon. Come May 28, the American luxury accessories brand will officially open its largest flagship store in Southeast Asia, right here in Singapore.

The 4,600 square foot store will be located right at the front of the newly-revamped Wisma Atria shopping mall, and – this will make the guys happy – will carry the most extensive range of men’s accessories in the region.

The store’s façade is based around Coach’s signature Bleecker prints; the two-storied exterior will feature white sculpted C patterns that will be lit strategically to make them stand out.

The store’s interior has also been meticulously designed. The women’s section will have chic white lacquer fixtures accented with polished stainless steel and glossy marble floors while the men’s section is more homely, with brown, hand-painted fixtures and dark walnut flooring.

The complete range of Coach products, including fragrance, sunglasses, watches and outerwear will be available at the flagship store, so there’s even more reason to check out the store when it opens next Monday.

Burberry brings British autumn to Taipei

Burberry has marked the opening of its new Taipei store with a custom built 360-degree cylindrical space providing a sensory experience of British weather.

The English fashion house has launched Burberry World Live, a project in which guests are invited to step inside the dome combining film and live music. The April 26 event included interactive simulated British weather with leaves and golden rain falling from the ceiling.

“We're talking about all the different facets of the brand - fashion, design, music, weather and attitude,” chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, told British Vogue.

“It's all part of an immersive space that we've custom-built opposite our latest new store. It's basically the whole concept of the brand wrapped in one experience and a big celebration of the multi-faceted jewel that is Burberry. It's a celebration of Britishness all around the globe."

The project in Taipei is the first of many to come as it is set to be taken to Hong Kong, London and Chicago later this year.

Christopher recently discussed the brand during an appearance at The Vogue Festival in London. He said Burberry was a diamond “trodden in the dust” when he first joined the label in 2001 and has enjoyed watching it grow.

Projected on a customised cylindrical space, the Burberry World Live film was accompanied with music and a simulated storm at the Burberry Taipei 101 store opening. The multi-sensory Burberry World Live will tour cities globally including London, Hong Kong and Chicago later this year.
